Prep girls basketball: Westwood’s balance stops Bark River-Harris

ISHPEMING - It rarely hurts to place four players in double figures scoring-wise.

Westwood did just that Wednesday night in a 57-36 non-conference girls basketball win over visiting Bark River-Harris.

Hannah Salmi led the WHS scoring parade with 12 points. Katie Rankinen, Elizabeth Dauphinais-VanBuren and Amber Salo added 11 each for the Patriots (4-5).

"Every coach loves four players in double figures," Westwood head coach Kurt Corcoran said. "We've been working on discipline in getting into our offense and the girls are starting to buy into the system.

"Amber Salo played fantastic off the bench," he added, noting she also hauled down seven rebounds. "She's coming on strong as a sixth man senior."

The Patriots led 27-18 at the half, then put the game away with a 30-18 advantage over the final two quarters.
