NEGAUNEE - Negaunee dug itself a hole that penalties and Dax Durocher wouldn't let them out of.
Jeffers scored twice in the first period and Jets goalie Durocher made it stand up with a shutout performance in a 3-0 victory at the Negaunee Ice Arena on Monday night.
"Durocher played well," NHS coach Darrel Sleeman said. "They jumped on us in the first period and we were flat.
"We definitely controlled the second period, but we didn't get any rebounds.
"Then in the third, we took four of our penalties and we were a man short three times. They not a way to win hockey games."
Durocher made 18 saves as Jeffers defeated Negaunee (5-10) for the third time in three meetings this season. One more is still to come.

Kevin Semmens got all the scoring Jeffers would need near the midpoint of the opening period with assists going to Darren Nordstrom and Nick Trezona. He knocked the puck through a scrum and off a skate in front of Miners goaltender Tyler Riutta, according to Sleeman.
Lance Kangas made it 2-0 with 1:19 remaining in the period off assists from Steve Suhonen and Anthony Harris. That goal came off a rebound despite a Negaunee defender right on Kangas, Sleeman said.
The Jets added insurance with about nine minutes remaining when Harris took advantage of a power play and a pass from Nick Harris for the final margin.
Riutta finished with 19 saves.
