KINGSFORD - Marquette Senior High School senior wrestler Hunter Moore was the lone individual champion from Marquette County and the Redmen had nine of their 13 wrestlers medal at the Ray Mariucci Wrestling Tournament held in Kingsford on Saturday.
Marquette was the top area school at the 10-team meet, scoring 118 1/2 points to finish third. Ishpeming was fifth with 59 points, Westwood sixth with 47, Negaunee seventh with 45 1/2 and Gwinn 10th with 35.
"It was good to get back on the mats in the U.P. after competing in Wisconsin and downstate (Michigan) for the last three weeks," MSHS coach Tony Gentz said. "I was just hoping we'd finish in the top five today, so this is great."

Gladstone won the team title with 234 1/2 points, with Norway second with 185.
Moore won the 130-pound division, pinning Trevor Swanson of Westwood in the championship match in 1 minute, 37 seconds. He was 2-0 on the day, also picking up a pin at 3:24 against third-place finisher Kyle McKenzie of Gladstone.
Marquette senior Brian Helmer at 152 pounds and junior Ricky Baker at 171 pounds were runners-up.
Helmer, who was 1-1 on the day, pinned Westwood's Josh Argall at 5:13 before losing in the finals to Jeremy Kadish of Gladstone, 2-0. Baker, who was 2-1, pinned Negaunee's Kyle Scheiding at 2:51 and defeated Norway's Taylor Bonetti 9-3 before bowing out in the finals to Bradley Gagnon of Gladstone, 5-1.
Two more Redmen finished third, freshman Beau Caster at 135 pounds and sophomore Charles Morton at 160.
Caster won the third-place match over Corbin Henkel of IM 6-3, while Morton took third with an 11-7 victory over Zeke Oswald of Bark River-Harris.
Four MSHS wrestlers came in fourth, junior Tyler Ten Eyck at 112 pounds, sophomore Cole Arnsten at 125, senior Jackson Mahler at 189 and sophomore Cassidy Stoken at 215.
Each of the other four Marquette County schools had a runner-up finisher - Swanson, Alex Anderson of Gwinn at 112 pounds, Johnathan Willey of Ishpeming at 135 and Jamie Collins of Negaunee at 285.
In championship matches, Anderson was pinned by Norway's Dylan Hoffart at 4:23, Willey pinned by Gladstone's Bobby Beauchamp at 2:29 and Collins pinned by Gladstone's Tommy Bailey at 0:29.
DeBacker of Gwinn came in third, clinching his place with the win over Mahler.
Seven other area wrestlers finished fourth - Ishpeming's Jordan Tousignant at 145 pounds, Nate Meyer at 171 and Alec VanHorn at 285; Westwood's Cedric Nora at 119 and Josh Argall at 152; and Negaunee's Mike Luoma at 130 and Brody Rosten at 140.
The Marquette County Meet is next up for these schools at 5 p.m. Monday at Westwood after it was postponed from last week.
