The Mining Journal

MARQUETTE - A 31-year-old Marquette resident was arraigned Friday in 96th District Court on multiple meth-related charges.

Eric Haanpaa was arraigned on charges of manufacturing meth, operating a meth lab, operating a meth lab near a specific place and operating a meth lab as hazardous material.

A preliminary hearing was set for Jan. 24 in District Court.

The charges stemmed from an incident on Jan. 6 when Marquette police responded to a report of a domestic assault at 247 W. Rock St. Further investigation by the officers revealed a suspected meth lab.

Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team detectives were contacted and responded to the scene. The detectives took over the meth-related investigation and removed all meth-related components and hazardous waste from the residence.
