MARQUETTE - Marquette General Hospital has implemented visitor restrictions until further notice as a precaution to protect hospital patients and staff from the spread of the flu.

MGH officials have asked the public to comply with the restrictions announced this morning, which include only essential family visitors should come to patient rooms, children under the age of 14 are not being permitted into the hospital unless for a medical appointment or an emergency room visit, visitors in the Family Birthing Center are limited to parents and grandparents, and visitors are limited to parents in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Hospital officials asked those "ill with fever, chills, body aching, fatigue, cough, sore throat, runny nose, vomiting, and/or diarrhea," to stay home and to not visit patients.
