TUCSON, AZ. - Julie E. (Boyer) Tomison, 51, of Tucson AZ, formerly of Marquette, passed away from surgery complications, on December 19, 2013.

Born in Marquette, Julie attended St. Peters Catholic School and Marquette Senior High.

Julie was truly one of a kind. She loved life and people with an overly generous heart and personality. She could be found cheering on her nephews, Stevie and Jacob, at their hockey games, listening to music, or watching Wheel of Fortune and her favorite movies, The Bucket List and The Blind Side.

She was a strong advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness and her love for animals was legendary. When times were tough Julie had a smile and a "whatever" for everything, which was her trademark phrase which will resound with us for many years to come.

The light of her life was her son, Josh, whom she raised as a single mother and loved to "Black Friday" shop with. Her memory continues on within the hearts of her family and her many friends in Michigan, Arizona and beyond.

She is survived by her mother, Connie Boyer, of Marquette, her son, Joshua Zak, of Tucson, AZ, her brother, Gary J. (Janet) Boyer of Marquette, her sisters, Debbie Koenig of Tucson, Cathy Willey of Wyoming, MI, Rose (Stephen) Talaga of Negaunee, MI and Penny Boyer of Marquette. She is also survived by her niece, Stephanie Willey, nephews, Peter (Bonnie) and Jon Koenig, Joe (Sarah) Boyer, Tony Willey, Steve (Melanie) and Jacob Talaga, and Dylan Boyer, as well as her Aunt Sharon, Uncle Jim and many cousins.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, Gary P. Boyer; sisters, Barbara and Suzanne; brother, Richard John.

A private memorial for family and friends, celebrating Julie's life, will be held at a later date. The family is asking, in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made in Julie's memory to UPAWS of Marquette.
