ISHPEMING - A pressure defense that forced Iron Mountain into 26 turnovers Thursday night sparked host Ishpeming High School to a 54-27 Mid-Peninsula Conference girls basketball victory.

"I was pleased with our full-court pressure," IHS head coach Tom Graves said after his team had improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the M-PC. "Our defensive intensity was pretty good."

Jessica Spencer led the Hematites with 15 points and eight rebounds. Teammate Gabby Croley added 12 points off the bench and Morgan Skytta contributed 11.

"We got a lot of energy off our bench," Graves said. "Croley scored eight points in the first quarter; (Brianna) Aho played some great defense; (Lindsey) Thompson provided us some spark; and (Chloe) Stetson gave us some quality playing time."

Ishpeming, which turned the ball over just three times in the game, led 14-7 after one quarter and 29-12 at the half.

Alyssa Khor led IM (1-5, 0-3) with nine points.
