MARQUETTE - A long holiday break didn't help the Marquette Senior High School junior varsity hockey team in the annual Ramada of Marquette JV Tournament Jan. 3-5 at Lakeview Arena.

The Redmen fell to St. Ignace, 5-4; Warren De La Salle, 9-2; and Green Bay Notre Dame, 4-0.

"All in all, it was a pretty rough weekend," head coach Kevin Thomsen said. "We were very rusty and just couldn't seem to get anything going.

"We hadn't a game since mid-December and had very few practices during the Christmas break. It was very evident in our play."

Against St. Ignace, Jake Patterson, Brendan Campbell, Patrick Burmeister and Sam Leow scored for the Redmen.

Assists went to Kyle Lane (2), Caden Paquette, Burmeister and Leow.

Cody LaValley absorbed the loss in net.

In the loss to De La Salle, Peterson and Hunter Larson notched the MSHS markers. Larson, Mitchell Berry and Leow collected assists.

LaValley again took the net loss.

"We were very undisciplined and took a lot of penalties we don't usually take," Thomsen said. "It was very frustrating, to say the least."
