TILDEN TOWNSHIP, MI. - Jeri Lee Makinen, 42, of County Road 581, Tilden Township, died Thursday evening, January 2, 2014 at Bell Hospital.

Jeri was born October 7, 1971 in Ishpeming to Leslie and Jeri Lynn (Woodbridge) Makinen, was raised in Palmer and graduated from Negaunee High School. She was a lifelong area resident and was employed as a nurse's aide for Northern Home Care Services.

In her free time, Jeri loved being in the outdoors. She was an avid birdwatcher, enjoyed fishing and spending time gardening.

She also loved listening to music and had a vast collection of albums. Jeri was a proud donor to the Gift of Life.

Surviving are her father, Leslie Makinen of Negaunee Township; her daughter, Jessica (Charles Stuart) Mills of Shawano, WI; 3 sisters: Janet, Amy and Michelle Makinen; 2 brothers: David and Daniel Makinen; 3 nephews: Andrew Juchemich, Dawsen Makinen and Kevin Mann; 2 nieces: Makenna Makinen and Olivia 'Butter Bean' Jurmu; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 7th at Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. Marcia Solberg officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00 noon until the time of services at 2:00 pm at the funeral home on Tuesday.
