Prep wrestling: VanHorn leads Hematites at Elks Invite

ISHPEMING - Led by Alex Van Horn, the Ishpeming High School wrestling team placed sixth Saturday at the 17-team Escanaba Elks Invitational.

VanHorn took third at 285 pounds.

Teammates Nate Meyer and Jonathon Willey added fourth place finishes at 171 and 140, respectively.

Jordan Tousignant went 4-1 and came in fifth at 145, while Hematite Dylan Giuchin took sixth at 135.

"I was pleased with the first round. We won all our matches," IHS coach Tim Hares said. "We're getting better each week."

He said Alex Anderson of Gwinn took top honors at 112 pounds, with Escanaba, Gladstone and Norway going 1-2-3 in the team results.
