January 3, 2014
The Mining Journal

MARQUETTE - The Once Upon A Crime Book Group continues "She/He or He/She" mysteries by a female author with a male detective or a male author with a female detective and will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Dandelion Cottage Room at the Peter White Public Library, Marquette.

They will discuss "The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie" by C. Alan Bradley, a Canadian author who won the 2007 Debut Crime Association's Award.

When a stranger shows up dying in her family's cucumber patch in the middle of the night, 11-year-old Flavia de Luce expands her interests from chemistry and poisons to sleuthing and local history and applies the detective skills she learned plotting against her older sisters to solve the crime.

For more information, call Caroline Jordan 228-9953.
