Afternoon recital set for Jan. 5

MARQUETTE - An afternoon recital showcasing the musical talents of Dr. Nancy Redfern, piano and Dr. Barbara Rhyneer, violin, will be at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 5 in the community room at Peter White Public Library in Marquette.

The centerpiece of the concert will be the Violin Sonata No. 1 by Robert Schumann. Rhyneer and Redfern are members of the music department at Northern Michigan University and the Marquette Symphony. Rhyneer teaches strings, plays celtic fiddle and is conductor of the NMU Orchestra. Redfern teaches piano, organ and harp.

There is no admission charge to the concert thanks to sponsorship by the Carroll Paul Memorial Trust Fund of the Peter White Public Library. For more information, visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
