To the Journal editor:
What an unpleasant surprise I had Dec. 10. Imagine my displeasure when I drove from Sawyer International Airport to M-553.
Kelly Johnson Memorial Drive was in the most absolute unsafe condition. It was literally an ice rink.
How horrible would that be to greet international guests, or any guest for that matter, to our area with a roadway that was an accident waiting to happen or a visit into a snowbank.
I know we've had icy and snowy weather. But can you tell me why the Michigan highways (M-553, M-35) were clear? Evidently, they were salted and sanded properly.
Why would the Kelly Johnson Memorial Drive be neglected as it is a very important roadway?
