IRON MOUNTAIN - Michigan State Police troopers from the Iron Mountain post are warning the public about a job-related Craigslist scam.
Police said a job seeker contacted a company on Craigsist about a job posting. Without filing an application, background or interview, the person was given the job. Police said the job seeker was then told to fill out financial paperwork, including bank account and other financial account numbers.
Police said when the job seeker questioned the practice of requesting financial information, the company representative became irate, rude and hung up the phone.
Police were reminding the public not to give out financial information to sources they do not know or have not initiated contact with regarding personal accounts. Job applications do not include financial information, including bank or financial account information.
