POWELL TOWNSHIP, MI. - Robin Lynn Rahoi, age 54, of Powell Township, entered eternal life Tuesday morning, December 17, 2013, as the result of an automobile-pedestrian accident in Big Bay.

Robin was born September 16, 1959 in Pontiac, a daughter of Thor and Gail (Stevens) Petersen. She began her college career at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant and later earned her Masters Degree at Northern Michigan University as a registered dietitian. While currently employed as the registered dietitian at Northern Michigan University, Robin has contributed to many advances in the college's dining services department, such as bringing Starbuck's and Temaki and Tea to NMU. She possessed not only a contagious smile, but also an ability to make people feel like part of her family. She had a way of working with students that made them feel important and always sought to bring out the best in them. Robin loved the area, especially Big Bay and her home on Lake Independence, often enjoying walking and kayaking, both of which she was more than welcome to share with the company of a friend or loved one. She was also a lover of animals, entertaining her beloved pet pig, Jackson throughout life. Robin loved her family deeply and she would often celebrate the immense pride and love she had for her children.

Survivors include her mother, Gail; her children, Brie Rahoi, Dane Rahoi, and Claire Rahoi all of Marquette; her companion, Steve Nelson of Marquette and his children, Eric and Hanna Nelson of Marquette, Kristin Brodersen of Iowa, and Karla Nash of Texas; her brother, Thor (Lissa) Petersen of North Carolina; nieces and nephews, Graham, Caryse, Reece, Taylor, Thor, Bailey and Chandler.
