Tradition started

December 12, 2013
Tom Baldini , The Mining Journal

To the Journal editor:

Last year the Marquette Area Public Schools Foundation sponsored the first Holiday Homecoming for the graduates of the Marquette Area Schools.

This was held in response to alumni of Marquette Senior High School, Graveraet, J. D. Pierce and Bishop Baraga expressing an interest in having an opportunity to visit with one another during the holidays with local friends and others back in the community for the holiday.

The reaction of those who did attend was that we should continue the gathering with the intention of establishing this as a tradition of the season in the community.

MAPS Foundation in cooperation with the Landmark Inn is hosting the second annual Holiday Homecoming at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 26 at the inn.

The Foundation is helping to facilitate a place and time for recent grads, long-time alumni, graduates living in the area and alum coming back to the area to visit for the holidays with no obligation.

It is also a way for the foundation that provides scholarship and assists with student and teacher projects to say thank you for your continued support for the Marquette Area Public School Foundation.

Everyone is welcome to come and visit with one another and share in the spirit of the holidays and enjoy the fun of reconnecting with one another.

We hope you take the opportunity to stop by and visit.

Tom Baldini, president
