MARQUETTE - A trio of Marquette Senior High School volleyball players have been named to the Region 2 All-Region Team.
Senior setter Courtney McGovern, senior middle hitter Tayler Smith and junior outside hitter Hunter Viitala earned the region honor as selected by the Michigan Volleyball Coaches Association
All three were first team All-Great Northern Conference selections, with Smith gaining a Co-Player of the Year nod in the conference.
On the season, McGovern recorded 429 assists, 97 digs, 23 service aces and 50 kills; Smith posted 75 service aces, 27 digs, 210 kills and 90 blocks; and Viitala turned in 224 digs, 45 service aces, seven blocks and 253 kills.
"All three of these athletes were integral in the success the Redettes' team had this year," MSHS head coach Michael Morgan said.
