ISHPEMING - The Westwood High School boys basketball team tipped off the 2013-14 season with a loss Monday night on its home floor, falling to West Iron County 55-43 in nonconference play.
Senior forward Justin Luke led the Patriots with 21 points off eight field goals and just a pair of free throws. He accounted for over half of WHS's made field goals on Monday.
Senior guard Luke Woods and junior guard Trevor Burke each pitched in six points.

The Patriots fell behind 13-10 after the first quarter before the Wykons extended their lead over WHS to 32-21 at halftime. The Patriots were edged by just a single point the rest of the way, 23-22.
Senior forward Adam Newby led the Wykons with 21 points off nine field goals and a trio of successful free throws. Senior forward Andy Ridolphi had 10 points as well for WIC while senior forward-guard Brock Hopkins had eight.
The Wykons hit 60 percent of their free throws, making 12 of 20 attempts. The Patriots finished 11 of 23 for 47.8 percent at the charity stripe.
