NEGAUNEE, MI. - Marian Lois Ray, 72, of 214 W. Clark St., Negaunee, died unexpectedly at her home on Monday, December 2, 2013.
Marian was born January 8, 1941 in Ishpeming to Albert and Lois (Kent) Whitford, was a graduate of Negaunee High School, Class of 1958, and was a lifelong area resident. She married Harry Ray on September 19, 1959. She worked for the Twin Cities Medical Clinic for 39 years, retiring in 2000 as the office manager.
Mrs. Ray was a member of Mitchell United Methodist Church and sang for many years in the church choir. She was a member of the Ishpeming AMVETS, the Negaunee Eagles, and the Negaunee V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Her hobbies included camping, reading, and singing. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who most enjoyed being with her family.
Surviving are 2 sons: Kevin Ray and David (Francine) Ray, both of Negaunee, one daughter, Julie Ray of Franklinton, NC, 3 grandsons: Dion (Breanna), Devin and Kadin, 2 great grandchildren: Mykala and Dameon, a sister, Darlene (Tony) Miljour of Palmer, a sister-in-law, Norma (Bruce) Greenwood of Ishpeming, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Albert in 1979, her mother Lois in 2005, her husband Harry Ray on Aug. 31, 1998, a brother Alan Whitford in 1973 and her special companion, Myron Johnson on Nov. 19, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, Dec. 7th at Mitchell United Methodist Church, Negaunee, with Rev. Douglas Mater officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 11:00 am until the time of services at noon on Saturday.
