December 4, 2013

MARQUETTE - The third annual Downtown Marquette Winter Snow Fun Holiday Parade is set for 6 p.m. Thursday.

Illuminated floats, tinsel-strewn trucks and colorful carolers will transform Third Street into a magical scene from the North Pole, organizers said.

The parade will begin at the corner of Third Street and Fair Avenue and will end at the Marquette Commons where Santa Claus and friends will participate in the 38th annual City of Marquette Tree Lighting.

Festivities will include a performance by the Marquette Senior High School Redmen Chorale, photos with Santa and his reindeer, and hot chocolate.

The staff from the Marquette Post Office will be helping Santa's elves by collecting children's letters to Santa along the holiday parade route.

The events are being coordinated by the Marquette Downtown Development Authority. For more information, call 228-9475.
