November 30, 2013

MARQUETTE - The Gwinn Area Community Schools Board of Education ratified a three-year agreement between the district and the Gwinn Education Support Personnel Association during its regular meeting Monday night.

The contract calls for a freeze on hourly rates during the first year, but does allow some union members below a certain threshold to receive a step increase in the second and third years.

Those above the threshold will receive a .25 cent raise in the second and third years.

No health insurance is offered under the pact, but beginning the second year, association members will receive dental and vision care.

The contract will be applied retroactively, beginning July 1 of this year, and will run through June 30, 2016.

The association currently has 21 members.
