Elaine V. Keto

ISHPEMING, MI. - Elaine V. Keto, age 92, former W. Bass Lake, Gwinn resident, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility where she had resided for the past 2 1/2 years.

Elaine was born February 7, 1921 in Diorite Location the daughter of the late Oscar and Cordilia (LaJoie) Arseneau. She was raised in Ishpeming (Lake Angeline Loc.) and had worked as a seamstress at the H.W. Gossard Co. for 27 years. She raised her family with her husband Erland "Boots" Keto in National Mine. Elaine spent her retirement years on W. Bass Lake in Gwinn, where she enjoyed countless pontoon rides where she was at the controls.

Elaine was a lifetime member of the Ishpeming VFW auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards especially smear along with her trips to the casino. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas and the Fourth of July, and could always be counted on to host the family gatherings. Elaine loved animals and took in several stray dogs over the years.

Survivors include a son Reuben (Katy) Kjellman of Louden, TN, a daughter Bonnie (Jerry) Johnson of Marquette, a brother Pius Arseneau of Ishpeming, 4 grandchildren Gregory (Tammy) Byrd, Todd Byrd, Amy Byrd and Vicki Maison, 4 great grandchildren Amber (Kyle) Smith, Brittaney Maison, Henry Byrd and Lindsay Byrd, a special friend Eino Kangas, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Erland "Boots" Keto in 1997, along with a sister and 7 brothers.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30 11:00am on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am on Friday at Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens. A luncheon will follow the services at the Bethel Lutheran Church.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility for their care of Elaine during her stay their.
