ISHPEMING, MI. - Jean M. Trudgeon, age 60, of 1855 Hewitt St., Ishpeming passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at her home, following a courageous battle with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig 's disease). She was under the loving care of her family and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.
Jean was born December 9, 1952 in Ishpeming the daughter of Janet (LaFond) and the late Douglas LaFond. Jean was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1971. She married Dennis J. Trudgeon on August 16, 1986 in Ishpeming. She had worked as a medical assistant for the William's Clinic and the Teal Lake Clinic prior to working at U.P. Rehab and Medicine for 19 years, retiring in 2009.
Jean was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time at their camp in Three Lakes, along with snowshoeing, and walking at the Ishpeming Armory during the winter months. Jean had been a member of the local "Tops" group.
Survivors include her husband Dennis Trudgeon of Ishpeming, her mother Janet LaFond of Ishpeming, 3 daughters Erin (Ed) Canning of White Cloud, Janel LaBelle of Marquette and Sara Trudgeon of Ishpeming, 2 sons Eric Trudgeon of Iron Mountain and Nathan Trudgeon of Waukesha, WI, a sister Mary (Gorgon) Whittler of Beaver Grove, 2 brothers Doug (Patti) LaFond of Negaunee and Dennis (Cathy) LaFond of Pelston, 8 grandchildren Rebekah, Tia, Carrigan, Kayla, Kobe, Kaleb, Ean and Hailey, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 1 pm 4 pm on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming. They will again greet relatives and friend from 10 am 11 am on Monday, November 25, 2013 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, November 25, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eric, Nathan, Marty and Alan Trudgeon, Ed Canning and Rob Rajala.
