MARQUETTE - The Northern Michigan University athletic department officially announced the signing of three men's basketball players to National Letters of Intent on Tuesday, adding a recruit to the pair welcomed on Twitter by Wildcats head coach Bill Sall last week.
Alex Sorenson of Dunlap High School and Kenny Williams of Bolingbrook High School, both in Illinois, were announced by the men's hoops program on its Twitter account (@NMUMensBBALL).
On Tuesday, NMU added Cooper Radtke of Oshkosh North High School in Wisconsin. Radtke is playing this week in the state football championships for North.
"The best part about adding these young men to our program is that all of them aren't just very good basketball players, they are all tremendous students, great people and from amazing families," Sall said. "They will add to our Wildcat Family as much off the court as they will on the court."
Radtke was the Fox Valley Association Player of the Year as a junior, averaging 18.3 points and 5.8 points per game. He's currently ranked No. 20 in the state by WisSports.net having played AAU basketball for the Wisconsin PlayGround Warriors.
Sorenson at 6-foot-8 was a first-team All-Mid-Illini Conference selection last year and had been reportedly also looking at Minnesota State in Mankato. He led Dunlap with 15.4 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game.
The 6-6 Williams verbally committed to NMU at the end of October and was a special mention on the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-State team. He averaged 12 points and five rebounds per game last year.
