ROGERS CITY, MI. - The family of Marie Ketola announces with great sadness, her unexpected death on November 15, 2013 from a heart attack. She peacefully went to The Lord surrounded by family.
Marie came into the world January 30, 1934 in Hamburg, Michigan to her proud parents James and Lyla (Rickett) Ryan.
Preceded by: her first husband, William Cox and second husband Reino Ketola.
The third of eight children, she is survived by: Regina, James, Susan, Patricia and Dennis.
She was preceded by Joseph and Emmet.
She lovingly raised five children, Daniel (Jeanie) Cox, Ronald Cox, John (Debbie) Cox, Karen Harju and Michelle (Dana) LaBar. Marie was blessed with 12 grandchildren to love and spoil.
A genuine good old fashioned Mother and Grandmother who dispensed her love of God and the good things in life to all she met, especially her grandchildren. She loved to hold hands. "I am always with you, you have held my Hand" Psalms 73:23 was a fact of life with Marie both figuratively and Spiritually with her faith in God. With a twinkle in her eye and a ready smile for all, Marie never met a stranger. She was proud to be Irish and had the ready laughter that went with her curiosity of all things good in life. Birds and Chippies will mourn her as well as they held a special place in her heart, marauding raccoons on the other hand did not. They received a stern look and a poke with her cane.
Marie always whole heartily endorsed and supported whatever it was you were interested in. Sadly she did not join the Red Hat Society. She was invited to join by a few women who's company she enjoyed. When she found out there were two different groups she did not want to hurt the feelings of anyone and did not accept either although she had a red dress and hat in beautiful boxes displayed in her room. She will be missed by many true friends and loving family here on earth but will rejoice with many more in Heaven.
God speed and Thank you for being such a good and caring person.
Services will be held at 11:00, Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Westminster Presbyterian in Rogers City and at 2:00, Wednesday, November 20, at Phillips Funeral Home in South Lyon.
