Ruth V. Pleaugh

MARQUETTE, MI. - Ruth V. Pleaugh, age 90, of Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Marquette General Hospital in the loving care of her family.

Born October 24, 1923 in Marquette, a daughter of William and Edna (Olmstead) O'Donnell, Ruth was raised in Marquette and attended the Marquette area schools. She was married to Charles Van Wormer and later Lawrence "Pat" Pleaugh, both of whom preceded her in death.

For over 50 years, Ruth owned and operated Pat's Bar on West Washington Street, a Marquette fixture known for its good food. The bar was everything to her and its patrons were like family. In her early years, Ruth enjoyed her camp and snowmobiiling.

Survivors include her daughters, Patsy (John) Heliin of Gulf Shores, AL and Susan Lemire of Marquette; a son, Charles "Sandy" Van Wormer of Marquette; her grandchildren, Wendy (Mike) Beacco of Negaunee, Sherry (J.B.) McKenna and Terri Bosher both of Peoria, AZ, Steve (Candi) Heliin of Marquette, Tim (Toni) Heliin of Roscommon, Jill (Doug) Bourdeau and Janet (Todd) Koski both of Marquette, Jason (Kristi) Lemire of Marquette, Jackie Van Wormer of Wausau, WI, Jennifer Van Wormer of Grand Rapids, Charles "JR" (Yuki) Van Wormer of Marquette; 19 great-grandchildren, Elissa, Brittani, Kendall, Jade, Emilee, Nathan, Tarrance, Andy, Beau, Dylan, Ashlee, Trey, Tessa, D.J., Cody, Trevor, Brody, James, and Skye; 4 great great-grandchildren, Autumn, Hayden, Baylie and Aiden; her sisters, Faye Belmore, June (Al) Lane, and Darlene (Don) Swajanen, Ginger (Jon) Dobbs, Nancy Newport, and Raymond Quinnell; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Ruth was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Rachael Beacco and Angel Van Wormer; sisters, Loretta, Vivian, and Donna; and brothers, Patrick and John.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Michael Catholic Church on Thursday, November 14, beginning at 11:00 am. Funeral services will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Thursday afternoon with Rev. Michael Chenier, pastor, as celebrant.

A reception will follow in the St. Michael Parish Center. Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Janzen House.
