'Paint the Throttle Pink' today

LITTLE LAKE - U.P.Pink Power of Gwinn will be hosting "Paint the Throttle Pink," today at the Throttle Bar & Grill in Little Lake.

The event kicks off with a women's pool tournament at 2:30 p.m., with other activities to include silver dollar game, 50/50 raffle and bucket raffles drawing at 5 p.m. Double Trouble DJ Photo booth will be at at 5 p.m. with music by UP Monil Sound to follow. Proceeds will benefit Care Care of Marquette County.

Partners cribbage tournament

ISHPEMING - Partners cribbage tournament at 1 p.m., today, at the Venice Pub and Pizzeria in Ishpeming. Doors open at noon and play begins at 1 p.m. The cost is $20. For more information, call 486-9761.

UPAWS Adopt a Senior Pet month

NEGAUNEE - November Is Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month at animal shelters and rescue groups.

To celebrate the month, the Upper peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is offering special adoption rates for senior pets (8 years and older) and a free gift. The adoption fee includes a first round of vaccinations, a health check, spay/neuter surgery, microchip and free vet insurance.

UPAWS is open from noon to 4 p.m. daily, as well as noon to 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Historical slideshow on Longyear

MARQUETTE - A historical slideshow titled "J.M. Longyear: A Grand Tour through Lantern Slides" will be presented by curatorial intern Craig Neeson at 1 p.m., today, at the DeVos Art Museum at Northern Michigan University, Marquette.

John Munroe Longyear, a Michigan-born industrialist, took the slides in Europe in the early 20th century.

The slides are presented in conjunction with other Longyear exhibitions at the Beaumier Heritage Center and the Marquette Regional History Center.

Dance at Rock Community Center

ROCK -A dance will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 West Mapleridge Road, Rock.

Music by Cal's Classic Country. It is $5 per person and a free will donation for lunch. All proceeds benefit our Senior Corporation. For more information, call 356-6588.

Men's Auxiliary Breakfast Buffet

GWINN - The Men's Auxiliary of Gwinn VFW Post 5670 will sponsor a full Breakfast Buffet from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, at the Gwinn VFW Post.
