ISHPEMING, MI. - Duane Keith Ross, 69, of Ishpeming, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at his home.
He was born November 27, 1943, in Munising, a son of the late Frank and Doris (Whitman) Ross. Duane was raised in Flint and returned to the Upper Peninsula in 1971 with his family.
On March 1, 1969 he married Patsy Bowen in Flint.
Duane worked for many years as a tour bus driver and school bus driver.
He operated on HAM radios and was a member of the Amateur Radio Association.
He also was a member of various four-wheeling clubs, participated in Native American culture, enjoyed traveling and especially his daily routine of having coffee with friends.
For the past few years, he was devoted to attending to his loving wife prior to her stay in the nursing home.
Duane's family would like to thank the 400 wing staff at Marquette County Medical Care Facility for their care of the both of them and Cherry Creek Village.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Patsy of Ishpeming; children, Wayne Ross of Ishpeming and Shirley (Mike Tracy) Ross of Ishpeming; grandchildren, Joshua (Ashley) Ross, Mackenzie Ross, Ashlee Hughes, Desiree Hughes and Vince Barnett, all of Ishpeming; siblings, Frank (Dorothy) Ross of Trenary, Carol Wright of Gwinn and Glenda Ross of Gwinn; best friend, Norm Duman of Ishpeming; several nieces and nephews; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Daryl, Dennis and James Ross, infant sister, mother-in-law Joyce Bowen, and brother-in-law Jimmy Bowen.
Friends may call at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home on Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
