MARQUETTE - A fire Monday at a house on Second Street in Marquette caused heavy heat and smoke damage to the second story of the structure.
According to the Marquette City Fire Department, firefighters were called at 9:58 p.m. to the fire at 1109 N. Second St.
Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke on first and second floors on the street-side of the home and quickly extinguished the fire. No one was home at the time of the fire.
The fire department said the fire's point of origin was a second story east wall. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were Marquette General Hospital Unit 141, Marquette City Police Department, Semco Gas and the Marquette Board of Light and Power.
