MARQUETTE, MI. - Alton Edwin Theodore Johnson, age 98, of Marquette, entered eternal life on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Mill Creek Assisted Living in the loving care of his family, caregivers of Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice and his Mill Creek Family.
Alton was born on September 2, 1915 to Albert and Lottie (Peterson) Johnson. Alton married Marcella E. Hokans in May 1954. She preceded him in death in 2010.
Alton spent the summers of his youth working in Carlshend on his grandfather's C.P. Johnson's farm. He graduated from Northern Normal Teachers College and taught one year of High School Drafting. Like his father he had a love of trains and spent most of his working years with the Soo Line Rail Road. Alton was proud to be a World War II Veteran.
Survivors include his three daughters, Miriam (Donald) Englund, Joanne (Greg) Mingay and Suzanne (David) Davies. He was known as Morfar to his nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 1:00 pm with Pastor Brandon Liebe officiating. Immediately following the service a reception will follow in the funeral home reception room.
