Monday sewer spill cleaned up

October 31, 2013
The Mining Journal

MARQUETTE - The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality reported a sanitary sewer overflow occurred from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday at Super One Foods on U.S. 41 in Marquette Township.

The cause was a blockage in a sewer line. The raw sewage was disinfected and the area cleaned. The DEQ said preventive action includes more frequent inspection of grease traps and an increase in the sewer-cleaning schedule.
