GREEN BAY - The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay men's basketball team is replacing a cancelled tournament in Atlanta with a game against Northern Michigan University.

The Phoenix and Wildcats will open the regular season at 1 p.m. CST? Nov. 9 at the Kress Events Center, located on the UWGB campus.

Green Bay normally plays its games at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon, but the facility is booked by the Wisconsin state high school volleyball tournament.

The Phoenix were scheduled to play Arkansas Pine Bluff on Nov. 8 and Texas Southern on Nov. 10 at Philips Arena in Atlanta, but organizers cancelled the tournament. No reason for the move was given, according to a report by the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Tickets for the Nov. 9 game between NMU and UWGB are $5 for adults and $3 for youth. UWGB season ticket holders will receive a free ticket to the game against NMU.

The Wildcats and Phoenix last met in the 2009 season opener for UWGB, which beat NMU 70-64 at the Resch?Center.

The Wildcats women's basketball team is scheduled to play at the Kress against Green?Bay at 1 p.m. CDT Saturday in an exhibition.
