MARQUETTE, MI. - Rachel Lynn Peterson, 29, of Bark River, Michigan, died Friday morning, October 25, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Marquette and grew up in Little Lake and attended the Gwinn Schools. She enjoyed cooking with her father and watching movies.
Rachel is survived by her parents, Charles J. Peterson, Sr. of Bark River, MI and Regina (Tom Meurer) O'Flynn Peterson of Flint, MI; daughter, Kierra Herrala of Bark River; brothers, Lucas (Amanda) O'Flynn of San Antonio, TX and Charles J. (Courtney) Peterson, Jr. of Bark River; uncles, Fred "Butch" (Trish) Peterson of Little Lake, Richard O'Flynn of Owasso, MI and uncle Ron Peterson of Gwinn; aunts, Rose Soriano of Florida, Ruby O'Flynn of Alabama and Liz Peterson of Little Lake; nephews, Xander Reichert, Blake Kosan and Kollin O'Flynn; nieces, Payton Kozan, Amara Francie and Adrianna Stropich; special friends, Grandma Kathleen Raslich, Aunt Fay Peterson, Emmy Wixtrom and Jessica Hill; lots of cousins, great-aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, William & Lorrince Peterson; maternal grandparents, James & Murtha O'Flynn; uncle, William "Chummy" Peterson; and nephew, Trenton.
The family would like to thank the staff at Marquette General Hospital and Laura Leckelt in ICU for their care of Rachel.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 3 p.m. at the Little Lake Chapel with Rev. Ron Westman officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Little Lake American Legion.
