L'ANSE - The first ever "Boo! On the Bay will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in downtown L'Anse.
Nearly two dozen downtown businesses will be handing out treats. Others will be offering games for the children to play. And still others will be painting pumpkins with them. There's even been talk of a haunted house and the discovery of a mad scientist's lab. Children and their parents will be ferried around downtown in a horse-drawn wagon. The wagon rides are free and will take kids and their parents to any place displaying a "Boo!" flag which designates that business as a treat stop.
The Coffin Classic begins at 7 p.m. Parts of Front Street will be blocked off so people can gather at the Waterfront Park to watch this over-the-top race.
Teams wishing to participate can race under one of two categories: Ages 16 and Under and Ages 17 and Over.
Prizes will be awarded in each category for those placing 1st-3rd: $100 for first place, $50 for second and $25 for third. Entry is free. Registration forms can be found at the L'Anse Village Office and on their Facebook page.
