Human-Centered Design display

MARQUETTE - Northern Michigan University's Human-Centered Design student work is on display this month in the Huron Mountain Club Gallery on the main floor of the Peter White Public Library.

This collection of design concepts is the work of junior and senior level students within the Human-Centered Design Program at NMU. The emphasis of the program focuses on the development of concepts for products, systems and services that we encounter on a daily basis.

'31 Days of Pink' through October

MARQUETTE - The Superior Health Foundation and Marquette Area Public Schools are teaming up during October for the 31 Days of Pink to raise money for an Upper Peninsula-wide Breast Health Fund.

During October, The Spirit Store at Marquette Senior High School is selling pink t-shirts and wristbands to raise money for the foundation.

During the month, MSHS fall athletic teams are wearing pink and selling merchandise at their games to create awareness about Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The 31 Days of Pink will culminate with a "Pink Party" at 7 p.m. Oct. 25, when the MSHS varsity football team hosts No. 1-ranked Menominee.

That evening, pink merchandise will be sold, valuable silent auction prizes will be available, fans will have an opportunity to participate in a fun football contest for a chance to win prizes and player pink jerseys will be auctioned off. In addition, a special halftime event is being planned to honor breast cancer survivors.
