Throughout the years, Carol was employed as a retail clerk at various businesses, including Johnson's Sports Shop on Washington Street and College Cleaners. She, however, was best known through working the concession stand at Lakeview Arena where she knew all the hockey players and the hockey families of the Junior Hockey Association.

In her leisure, she loved to line dance at Pasqualis in Negaunee, take in a good game of golf, and twice a week did water aerobics at Tourville. She was an avid Packer and Red Wing fan, but her greatest fulfillment came from watching her grandchildren's activities.

A loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandparent, and sister, Carol is survived by her husband of 49 years, Leonard; her two children, Scott (Lori) Gauthier of DePere, WI and Jill (Leo Gardner) Dupras of Marquette; her grandchildren, Tonya (Martin Roussin) Dupras of Baytown, TX, Travis Gauthier of Ashwaubenon, WI, Rachel (John Fiorani) Dupras of Marquette, and Emily Gauthier of DePere, WI; great-grandson, Clayton Leonard Roussin of Baytown, TX; her sister, Kathleen Pitlanich of Green Bay, WI; two brothers, Donald (Janet) Sarka of Algoma, WI and Daniel Sarka of Marquette; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Wayne and David Sarka.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Michael Catholic Church on Thursday, October 17, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Thursday with Rev. Larry Van Damme, pastor, as celebrant. Carol's grandchildren will serve as escorts. A reception will follow in the St. Michael Parish Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

The Fassbender Funeral Home is serving the family, where condolences may be expressed online at fassbenderfuneralhome.com.
