McClintock Darter-Dace meeting

MARQUETTE - McClintock Darter-Dace Committee Annual Meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Oct. 19, at the Bonanza Steakhouse, Marquette.

Attendees should enter the rear west door. There will be a gathering period beginning at 5 p.m. and participants will go through the serving line at 5:30 p.m.

The committee is organized under the Marquette Maritime Museum to perpetuate the memory of Capt. David McClintock and the crews of the submarines Darter and Dace. These subs played a vital role in the Battle for Leyte Gulf in World War II. The main projects of the McClintock Darter-Dace Committee are the annex to the Maritime Museum, the conning tower replicating the Darter, and sponsorship of the Darter-Dace Sea Cadets.

The program for the meeting will consist of a presentation about the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight and a report about the Sea Cadets.
