The Mining Journal

MARQUETTE - CineArts Films at Peter White Public Library, a series devoted to foreign and independent films, will show the movie "Hyde Park on the Hudson" at 7 p.m. Friday in the Community Room, Marquette.

This story of the love affair between FDR and his distant cousin Margaret "Daisy" Suckley recounts the weekend in 1939 when King George VI and Queen Elizabeth visited upstate New York hoping to secure American support against Nazi Germany. This was the first visit of an English monarch to a sitting U.S. president.

In English, the movie is 94 minutes long and is introduced by Chet DeFonso from Northern Michigan University's Department of History. For more information, call 226-4309 or visit www.pwpl.info.
