MARQUETTE - The Northern Michigan volleyball team swept Malone University on Friday, with set scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 25-22.
The GLIAC win improved the Wildcats' record to 13-5 overall and 7-1 in the league.
The 'Cats started strong, leading the entire first set over Malone. The Pioneers got to within three points of NMU before the Wildcats took off for the set win.
The second set was close to the end, when the 'Cats scored five of the six final points to top Malone.
Close again through the third set, Malone nearly tied it up at 20-19 before the Wildcats scored three consecutive points and won the set on a Pioneer error.
Senior Wildcats led the way with double digit kills from Sarah Hamilton, Kalli Herron and Lina Lopes. Sophomore Alex Berger had a team-high 11 digs, and senior Kellisha Harley had 41 assists for NMU.
Overall, the 'Cats tallied 49 kills as a team and a .288 attack percentage.
NMU takes on Walsh University at 4 p.m. today at Vandament Arena. The Cavaliers lost 3-1 at Michigan Tech on Friday.
