MANISTIQUE - Tight end Darik Marsh caught a 21-yard touchdown pass with 1:27 left in the game Friday night to give the Newberry High School football team a 7-6 non-conference win over host Manistique.
Quarterback John Paramski, who found Marsh for the late aerial, then kicked the extra point to give the Indians the win and a 3-4 season record.
We had a play-action pass set up to (Marsh)," Indians coach Fred Bryant said. "He got a nice block on the outside.
"It was touch-and-go for a while. We had drives in the first and second quarter where we were intercepted at the goal line each time."
Austin Miller had given Manistique (0-7) a 6-0 lead in the third quarter with a 4-yard scoring run.
"We changed our defensive alignment up front," Bryant said. "We made it tough for them to run and forced the pass."
