SAN MATEO, CA. - Carl A. Swanson, 09-17-1922 to 10-1-2013

Carl passed away in San Mateo, CA at the age of 91.

Carl was born in Marquette, graduated from Graveraet and served in the US Coast Guard as a Radioman on the troop transport US General Greely. In 1946 he returned home and received a BS degree from NMCE in 1950.

Carl married Geraldine Sturgeon of Gladstone in 1947. He earned a MS degree from U of Michigan in 1951 and worked for US Geological Survey as a Cartographer first in Sacramento, CA and later in Menlo Park.

In retirement he enjoyed gardening, reading and watching TV, especially sports like the Wolverines and SF 49ers.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, two daughters Linda Gray and Jeri (Ed) Luce, five granddaughters; Marisa, Katrina, Shea, Brianna and Alycia, four great-grandchildren; Destiny, Tony, Alana and Jasmine, along with numerous nieces and nephews, Janice Cousineau and John and Jay Duquette, Maila Haglund, John Wayne Swanson and Vic Mattson Jr. of Marquette plus others in Lower Michigan and Colorado.

Private memorial services will be held in Paradise, CA.
