BARAGA - Authorities in Baraga were involved in a high-speed chase early Thursday morning which damaged patrol cars and injured an officer of the Keweenaw Bay Tribal Police, police said.

Officers from the Baraga Police Department, the Keweenaw Bay Tribal Police, the L'Anse Police Department and the Baraga County Sheriff's Department pursued the suspect's vehicle - which reached speeds in excess of 90 mph - through Baraga Village headed for the Baraga Plains, police said.

During the chase, the suspect's vehicle damaged patrol cars and one tribal officer was taken to Baraga County Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and released.

Police said alcohol seems to have been a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation.

The name of the suspect will be released following his arraignment.
