Moon viewing at Mattson park

MARQUETTE -The Marquette Astronomical Society will observe the International Moon Observe by setting up telescopes at 8 p.m. Friday at Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette.

Moon maps will be provides showing the exact phase of the Moon and surface features to look for thru the telescopes.MAS has arranged with the city of Marquette to have the lights at the park turn off from 8 to 11 p.m.. to make observing easier.

Besides the Moon, attendees will also have a chance to view some deep space objects, such as the nearest galaxy to us in the constellation of Andromeda, 2 million light years away.
