Wisconsin Energy backs raptor center

October 10, 2013
The Mining Journal

From left, Bob Jenson, volunteer and board member at the Chocolay Raptor Center, and Jerry Maynard, co-founder of the center, accept a $3,800 check from Mike Boyer, manager of administrative services at Presque Isle Power Plant. The contribution comes from the Wisconsin Energy Foundation and will go toward the center's cage construction project. Maynard is holding Phoenix, one of the peregrine falcons hatched at the plant, which had an injury that damaged its eye so severely that it cannot return to the wild. Center officials hope Phoenix will become the first educational ambassador bird.
