MARQUETTE - The Ishpeming Hematites football team continues its reign this week as the unanimous No. 1 team in the Michigan Associated Press Division 7 statewide high school football poll while trailing Menominee in the latest Upper Peninsula Sports Writers and Sportscasters Big Five poll.

Ishpeming (6-0) received all five first-place votes in the AP poll to remain ahead of Detroit Loyola while picking up two first-place votes in the UPSSA poll to land No. 2 in the Big Five.

Menominee (6-0) received three first place votes to hold on to its No. 1 U.P. ranking. The Maroons are No. 2 in the Michigan A.P. Division 5 poll and picked up one first-place vote this week.

The Negaunee Miners (6-0), ranked No. 3 in the U.P. Big Five and No. 6 in the AP Division 6 poll, will look to shake up the rankings this week when they travel to Ishpeming for a 7 p.m. Mid-Peninsula Conference battle of the unbeatens on Friday. The Miners were the only team last year to score a win over the MHSAA Division 7 state champion Hematites, 20-8 in Negaunee.

Forest Park (6-0) was a unanimous No. 1 selection among the five UPSSA voters in the Little Five poll while Rapid River (6-0) received all five first-place votes in the Eight Man poll.
