NEGAUNEE, MI. - V. Paul Dobbs, 82, of 636 Everett St. Apt. 4, died at 1:46 pm on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Lake Superior Hospice.
Paul was born April 26, 1931 in Negaunee to Vertin J. and Lillian (Kumpala) Dobbs and was a lifelong area resident. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving from January 1952 until November 1953. Following his service to his country, Paul was employed by CCI at the Mather 'B' Mine, and then at the Republic Mine, retiring in 1983 as a shift supervisor.
He was a lifetime member and past commander of V.A. Romo Post #3165, V.F.W. of Negaunee. Mr. Dobbs was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed travelling, camping, and mechanical work.
Surviving are his daughter, Angela Kivela of Negaunee; 2 sons: Larry Dobbs of Negaunee Township and Joe Dobbs of Negaunee; 3 grandchildren: Roger Doucette, Cheryl (Daniel Beltz) Herman and Dale (Cassie) Herman; 2 great-grandchildren: Dominica and Anthony Herman; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred Mary Dobbs on March 27, 2004; his daughter, Colette Herman on September 19, 2013; his sister, Shirley J. Johnson on January 9, 2013; and his brother, Francis Robert Dobbs on August 2, 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, October 9th at the Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. Marcia Solberg officiating.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:00 pm until the time of services at 3:00 pm at the funeral home on Wednesday, and also at a reception immediately following the service at the V.F.W. in Negaunee.
