MARQUETTE, MI. - Elizabeth "Betty" Louise Donckers, 92, of Marquette, passed away Wednesday morning, September 25, 2013, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.
She was born June 26, 1921 in Marquette, a daughter of the late Mathias and Aurora (Poirier) Anderson. She was a 1939 graduate of Graveraet High School and lifelong area resident.
Betty served in the US Navy and was a WWII veteran.
On October 1, 1946 she married Frank C. Donckers, Jr. in St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette and he preceded her in death on October 11, 2008.
Betty worked as the co-founder and assistant director of the Marquette Senior Service Center, retiring on June 30, 1991 after 17 years of service. She was a member of St. Peter Cathedral, the American Legion Post #44 and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by three sons, Frank (Linda) Donckers III of Marquette, Thomas Donckers of Marquette and Robert Donckers of Carson City, NV; grandchildren, Fritz Donckers of St. Ignace, Jessica (Dan) Grassetti of West Point, NY and Cristelle (Andrew) Koerper of Charlottesville,VA; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Kayla & Lucas; a brother, Robert P. Anderson of Pahrump, NV; a sister June Hare of Novi, MI; and nieces & nephews.
Honoring Betty's wishes, a private service will be held. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
