HARVEY, MI. - Donald Charles Hill, 87, died peacefully, Monday, September 23, 2013, at home in the loving care of his family and Lake Superior Hospice.
He was a son of Earl and Alma Hill, born on February 15, 1926 and raised in Detroit. In 1950 he established Great Lakes Lithography which he sold in 1980, when he and his wife moved to Hessel, Michigan where they owned and operated Hills Marina until 1995 when they moved to Marquette.
Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joan Hill; three sons, Doug (Lesley) Hill, Vic Hill, and Keith (Barb) Hill; a daughter, Lorraine (Martin) Hillock; two grandsons, Richard (Nicole) Hillock and Dave Hillock; three granddaughters, Laura Hillock, Anna Hill and Claire Hill; one great granddaughter, Lucy Hillock; a brother, Earl Hill and sister, Christine (Harold) Sawusch; also surviving are ten nieces and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home in Marquette with the Rev. Charles L. Tooman presiding. The Hill family will greet relatives and friends beginning at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home until the time of the service. A luncheon will immediately follow the service in the funeral home.
