GWINN, MI. - Nathalie Joan "Neggie" Hutchens, 80, of 138 N. Pine St., Gwinn, died peacefully at home on Sunday morning, September 22, 2013.

Neggie was born December 1, 1932 in Gwinn to Charles O. and Marguerite N. (Fountain) Boogren, graduated from Gwinn High School, Class of 1950 and was a lifelong Gwinn resident. She was employed as Clerk and Deputy Clerk for Forsyth Township for many years.

Mrs. Hutchens was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Gwinn VFW Auxiliary.

Neggie was an avid quilter and belonged to the quilting club in Gwinn. She really enjoyed her time spent with family at Whispering Pines on Little Lake, and especially loved being with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her loving husband of 59 years, Leslie C. Hutchens; one son, Michael (Jan) Hutchens of Gwinn; 2 daughters: Mary Beth 'Betsy' (Gene) Goss of Hamburg, MI and Kathryn (Trae) Forgette of Williamsburg, MI; 8 grandchildren: Joshua (Sandy) Hutchens, Michael (Stephanie) Hutchens, Ian Hutchens and Joseph Hutchens, Andrew (Anna) Goss and Erin (Mark) Chaplin, and Brienne and Alexa Forgette; 7 great-grandchildren: Braden Hutchens, Ellie and Chase Hutchens, Olivia and Lucy Goss, Natalie and Graham Chaplin; 2 brothers: Robert (Janice) Boogren of Gwinn and Lowell (Joyce) Boogren of Battle Creek, MI; a sister, Lucille Oien of Gwinn; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers: Charles, William, Kenneth, Byron and Leroy Boogren; and one sister, Barbara Boogren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 26th at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. John Boyle officiating. Neggie's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in the Gwinn Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday in the Baraga Room of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and also from 11:00 am until the time of Mass at 1:00 pm in the Baraga Room on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Gwinn VFW Auxiliary or the St. Vincent DePaul Society in Mrs. Hutchens' memory.
