Driver injured in 550 crash

BIG BAY - An 18-year-old Big Bay resident was transported to Marquette General Hospital for minor injuries Saturday after her vehicle hit a power pole off of County Road 550.

According to the Marquette County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to the single vehicle personal injury accident at 9:17 p.m. on CR 550 in Marquette Township.

Police said the woman, whose name is not being released, was traveling north just north of Middle Island Point Road, when she went off the east shoulder of the road into the ditch, eventually striking a power pole.

Assisting at the scene was Northern Michigan University Public Safety, MGH EMS and the Marquette Township Fire Department.

The accident remains under investigation.
